What is Varosha ?
Varosha is one of the most extraordinary and haunting places in the Mediterranean—a former luxury holiday resort frozen in time.
Located in Famagusta on the east coast of Cyprus, Varosha was once the island’s most glamorous destination. During the 1960s and early 1970s it was the playground of the rich and famous, attracting international celebrities, world leaders, and jet-set travellers. Lined with high-rise hotels, elegant apartments, boutiques, cinemas, cafés, and golden sandy beaches, Varosha represented modern Mediterranean luxury at its peak. Tourists flew into Nicosia Airport specifically to holiday here.

You now spend 2 hours and 30 mins in Varosha (More than any other company)

You are taken from your resort to the crossing point to the north of the island. Your passports will be processed by Immigration quicker than any other company at this crossing point, on average it takes us 7 minutes.
Once we clear passport control our guide will provide you with information about Varosha, including how Varosha came about, hotel information, what to expect, what to see and the facilities available in the deserted resort. We are the only company to provide our own map which helps with navigation and additional information about relevant buildings. Our staff will be in the resort armed with 2-way radios ready to give you assistance if required, again we are the only company to offer this customer care.
Once in the empty resort you are allowed to view wherever you want within the clearly demarcated areas governed by the authorities. Because we give you more free time than any other company you have enough time to explore the streets, have a snack or a swim on one of the two designated beaches.
This tour solely concentrates on the holiday resort of Varosha and therefore gives you maximum time to understand more about it.

After trailing the only Audio Guide System available in 2025 and as always , we decided to improve the system which will be own by us.
Our aim is to maximum the quality, ease of use, more information and visual content. This will be the first and only one available to any tourist exploring Varosha who DOES NOT travel with “The Original Red Bus”.
How it works
All we need is our customers to bring their mobile phone when taking this tour. When we arrive at Varosha you will be give a WiFi connection code, our buses are equipped with WiFi. Once you have have connected to the Wifi then you download the Guide App. The WiFi connection can now be disconnected because the App is now installed on your phone roam around varosha.

The Original Red Bus has their own FREE detail map of Varosha which is far advanced than any other, in fact there is only one available free, infact that map has no information about the places in Varosha, its just a map.
The Original Red Bus Map has numbers on points of interest and all you will need to do when you are at these great locations then press the number on the it and it will run the presentation.
